Short Term Medical Insurance: Why Choose Everest Prime Short Term (STM) Insurance?

NationsHealthInsurance.com offers Everest Prime STM insurance as an affordable alternative to the more expensive Marketplace health plans. Everest Prime provides coverage that is tailored to your needs and protects enrollees from the financial devastation associated with a major illness or serious accident. Everest Prime enrollees may be subject to the Affordable Care Act uninsured tax penalty. Often Everest Prime coverage is less expensive than a Marketplace plan even factoring in the cost of the penalty tax.

Underwritten by Everest Reinsurance Company, Everest Prime STM insurance is rates A+ Superior by A.M. Best. An A+ Superior rating signifies top financial stability. A.M. Best Company is an independent organization rating insurance company's financial stability.

Everest Prime STM insurance provides access to 750,000 providers in the nationwide MultiPlan Complementary Network across the country. Your doctor's office is able to file a claim with Everest Prime STM even if they are not an in-network provider.

  • People waiting to enroll in a Marketplace plan

In addition to the ability to apply for up to 3 months of coverage, members in the following states have the option at the time of enrollment to apply for a second consecutive policy for up to 3 months of coverage. AL, AZ, AR, DE, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MS, MO, NE, OH, OK, SC, TX, VA, WI.

How does this coverage work?*

When up to 3 months of coverage is selected and members opt to apply for a second consecutive policy at the time of enrollment, they will be issued 2 separate policies. Once the first policy expires, they will receive:

  • A new member ID number and card
  • A new policy certificate that resets the benefit terms, including:
  • A new deductible
  • A new coinsurance amount
  • A new maximum out-of-pocket amount
  • A new maximum limit

Why should members apply for a second consecutive policy at the time of enrollment?

By choosing this option, members can apply for a pre-existing conditions waiver. This will waive any conditions that were covered during the prior coverage period (i.e. during the first up to 3 month policy).

What is the waiver of pre-existing conditions?*

The pre-existing condition limitation will not apply to any conditions that were covered during the prior coverage period. Any other pre-existing conditions will remain subject to the limitation as described in the Certificate of Insurance.

How do members reapply?*

After the 2nd policy terminates, members must have a one-day break in coverage before any new policy applied for becomes active. Any pre-existing conditions waiver terms applicable to the 2nd policy do not apply to any new policies. Members can reapply for additional coverage terms depending upon state rules.

*Please note that this option is only available with the purchase of Plan 1 in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, DE, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MS, MO, NE, OH, OK, SC, TX, VA, WI.
